A Community for Black Women and Allies

Black Girls Lit began as a Facebook Community for book lovers founded in 2019 by Alexys Swygert.

Black Girls Lit has since grown into a community of readers who support black women and literacy highlighting authors of color in it's monthly selections and fosters healthy, respectful dialogue between members. Our mission is to unite and educate ALL readers about black culture through literacy.

Each month, we will select a book to read together as a group. As a member, you will have receive exclusive access to our monthly discussions (currently virtual.)

We can't wait for you to begin your LIT reading journey with us.
